Topics for presentation include general geology, earth science education programs, glacial geology, stratigraphy, sedimentology, coastal geology, applied geology, environmental geology, engineering geology, hydrology, and bedrock studies emphasizing the geology of Long Island and Metropolitan New York. Major goals are to inform participants of ongoing research, to promote further research and collaboration among researchers, to define important areas where research is needed, and to encourage further research on Long Island and in Metropolitan New York.
Deadline for submission of titles is February 15, 2008.
Please submit the following information when submitting titles:
- title,
- authors and affiliation,
- address, e-mail, and telephone and fax numbers for the corresponding author,
- whether the requested presentation is oral, poster or abstract only.

Deadline for submission of abstracts is March 15, 2008.
Each presentation must have an abstract.
We are accepting extended abstracts of up to ten pages plus figures
and references.
The abstracts will be published only on the web.
The title should be centered at the top of the page in capital letters followed by author, affiliation and address with first letter capitalized except for prepositions which should not be capitalized.
The text should be single spaced 12 point font.
Paragraphs should be separated by a line.
The first paragraph of the introduction should state the importance of the problem considered and present the major conclusion of the study.
Each figure with its caption should be placed in text near where it is discussed.
Acknowledgments should follow the text.
References in text should be "Author(s), year"
References in References Cited should be in the following format
Author, A.B. and Author, B.C., 2000, Title of Article, Journal, v. 2. p. 94-121Preferably send the abstract as a PDF file otherwise as an RTF file to gilbert.hanson@sunysb.edu.
Abstracts will be placed on the Long Island Geologists web site.
Companies, agencies, schools are encouraged to display promotional or informational material at the conference.
The program will be available on the Long Island Geologists web site in March.
There will be no registration nor charge for attending.
